Shadowlands

After many years, Blizzard allowed cooperation between the two warring parties. From the release of patch 9.2.5, the Horde and the Alliance will be able to team up and fight their opponents. The border that divided many players in 2004 is slowly fading away and made World of Warcraft the king of the MMORPG games.

Since the release of the first part of the game, the whole story was built on the conflict between the two factions, Alliance and Horde. Many players identified with their faction, which could often be seen in social portals or numerous conventions. That ended with today's patch 9.2.5, which introduced - for the first time in the history of World of Warcraft - a partial opportunity to collaborate, group both factions, trade drops, and earn achievements together.

What New patch 9.2.5

Thanks to the new feature, we can invite members of the opposite faction to the instance. However, this only applies to some dungeons and raids.

Custom Groups
Dungeons
Raids

This option does not apply to random dungeons or battlegrounds, i.e. options where the system selects players for the team. Cross-faction only applies to your own voluntary team gathering. Guilds will also be deprived of this option.

There are tons of reasons why it's important to preserve your faction identity, but ultimately an MMO like World of Warcraft is all about being able to play with your friends, being able to play wherever and whenever you want.
