WoW Classic Alchemy Guide: leveling, trainer, recipes
WoW Classic Alchemy Guide
In this guide we would like to present you with a way to make your journey with alchemy, from the start down to the very end, as pleasant and quick as possible.
However, before getting into this WoW Classic Alchemy Guide, you should think about why you want to master this profession. In Classic, alchemy provides the players with many possibilities, including creating:
- Elixirs, which are long-lasting buffs that mostly improve secondary stats of the character and are lost on death.
- Potions, which are quick effect-on-use items, such as health or mana potions, however, they are not limited to just replenishing the resources. They can be used frequently due to short cooldowns.
- Flasks, which are a staple of raiding, these are extremely potent buffs, with long lasting effects that persist through death. However, they usually end-up being on the expensive side to produce or buy due to the rarity of some of the materials used in the manufacturing process.
All of which are indispensable items regardless of the player’s focus or playstyle and as such are bound to be in high demand no matter the time, realm economy or focus.
Moreover, the profession offers an ability to perform transmutations, which allow the player to transform one material into another using some catalysts, which is a skill greatly sought after, especially since it is the only way to obtain Arcanite, which is necessary to craft high-end weapons.
WoW Classic Alchemy Leveling Guide
In making this WoW Classic Alchemy Guide we made it our goal to make it as easy and as cheap as possible. Hence, while some things may depend on your server’s economy, in case you decide to buy the materials on the Auction House, instead of gathering them yourself, they should be generally on the affordable end of the spectrum.
It is important to note that, as you may see, when you open the Alchemy window the recipes are going to be shown in different colors – orange, yellow, green, and gray. These indicate how likely you are to get a skill-up upon completing the recipe – from the first one which guarantees an increase in skill points, to the last one which means that you are not gaining any experience from crafting this recipe.
Generally, it is optimal to craft only orange recipes all the time. However, that is not possible, or even more so, not feasible or profitable. Hence, the numbers and amounts you see in this guide are not going to always be precise and you may need to get a few more reagents depending on how lucky you get.
First of all, you are going to need the following reagents:
- 60–65
Peacebloom - 60–65
Silverleaf - 85–125
Empty Vial - 80–100
Briarthorn - 30–35
Bruiseweed - 40–50
Stranglekelp - 15–20
Mageroyal - 30–35
Liferoot - 30–35
Kingsblood - 30–55
Goldthorn - 5
Wild Steelbloom - 85–100 Leaded Vial

Alchemy Trainer
One of the important things to remember when it comes to professions is that they also have certain ranks, these are: Apprentice, Journeyman, Expert, and Artisan. This will be especially important if you want to follow our WoW Classic Alchemy Guide since during the leveling of the profession you do need to upgrade these ranks in order to be able to gain more skill as well as learn new recipes.
In order to rank your Alchemy up, you are going to need a Trainer, these can be found in various location. Do note that they also have certain ranks, meaning that a trainer in, let’s say, Goldshire, will not be able to teach you Expert or Artisan level Alchemy.
